Djoep Khosok

This was the first website I ever designed and built myself for a real client. It’s a two-page website for the Thai and kickboxing gym Djoep Khosok. Below, you can read about the process and challenges I faced, or view the website here.

About the project

When the trainers at Djoep Khosok approached me to create a new website for their gym following a change in their business, I was very honored. However, I was also a little skeptical, as I had only recently started working with HTML and CSS again and had no experience with JavaScript, hosting, or building fully responsive websites. I wanted to make sure I could deliver the professional website they needed. I took on the challenge, starting with the design before moving on to developing the website.

Challenges

There were two main challenges. The first was balancing my own design knowledge with the client’s wishes. Since I had little experience with real clients, I found it difficult to stand my ground on certain design decisions. As a result, I feel the final design was slightly below my potential at the time—something I would approach differently today. Still I’m happy with this milestone. The second challenge was JavaScript and hosting, both of which were new to me. I learned JavaScript through tutorials and guidance from one of my lecturers, while one of the trainers with hosting experience helped me with the hosting.
